Capstone Companies, a Birmingham, Alabama based real estate developer began participating in the Birmingham City Schools “Partners in Education” program in 1999. Capstone was founded in 1990 to concentrate exclusively on providing housing for college and university students. To date, Capstone has successfully developed nearly 30,000 beds at 55 universities across the country. 

Since the relationship with Hill School began, Capstone has become a member of the Hill Elementary School family. Capstone has sponsored various projects over the years that have benefited the employees as much, if not more, than the school. 

Working directly with the Principal, faculty and students, over the years, Capstone employees have completed numerous projects at Hill School.  Since 1999 Capstone has: renovated and decorated the Teacher’s Lounge; built a new playground with safe equipment for the children; renovated the Hill Library with bright primary colors and new table and chairs; sponsored special activities for Honor students; taken each child on a fieldtrip; Christmas ornaments contests; school supply drive; arts and crafts and a Santa Store.  Each employee is encouraged to participate in activities during the school year. Capstone’s goal is to help each student at Hill School down the path of independence, responsibility and accountability. Capstone employees have donated hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to help the students of Hill grow intellectually and socially.

Capstone was awarded the New Partner of the Year award in 1999 and Small Business Partner of as awarded the New Partner of the Year award in 1999 and Small Business Partner of the Year in 2000 and 2001. Capstone is proud of its association with Hill School and the Birmingham Partners in Education Program.  In 2007 Capstone was awarded the “Partner of the Year” award for the fourth time.
Capstone is proud of their eight year association with Hill School and knows that because of it, Capstone is helping educate the workforce of tomorrow.
